How to Order Timeless Lighting Chandeliers

With so many options, your Timeless Lighting chandelier will fit your home - just right - as long as you follow these simple ordering guidelines.

1. Wrought Iron vs. Wood Spun

The most important aspect of your chandelier selection is its style - your style.  From traditional shapes to more contemporary shapes, there is a design to fit your classic lighting needs.  All metal wrought iron designs are generally more open and work with the most color schemes in your home.  Wood spun chandeliers, with their multitude of color options, add a punch of color to a neutral room or fit seamlessly into your favorite color scheme.  With solid maple bodies, wood spun chandeliers are traditional and heavier visually.

2. Determine the Proper Chandelier Size

Due to the open and airy designs of most of our chandeliers, ordering a chandelier that is too big for its space is less likely than accidently ordering one that is too small.  Proper sizing is based upon room size and any table that it hangs over.

For average sized dining rooms (12ft by 12ft), select a model between 20 and 24 inches wide.  For larger rooms (14ft by 14ft or more), select a model that is at least 25 to 30 inches wide. Consider using double tiered chandeliers in larger rooms.

3. Determine Height

Height can make or break what is otherwise the perfect chandelier in the perfect location.  For fixtures hung over tables, we recommend that the bobeche is approximately 37-39 inches above the table surface.  For fixtures installed in walking paths, the bottom of the fixture should clear 78 inches above the floor.

Ceiling plates add approximately 2-1/2 inches of depth to a chandeliers height.

4. Choose hanging method

All chandeliers are shipped with a 3 feet of black chain standard.  Custom hooks are available as an option.  Fashioned from a hollow bent tube and finished using the same metal finish on the rest of the chandelier, a hook conceals wiring that is normally visible on a chain mounted fixture.

Hooks are provided in standard fixed dimensions and custom dimensions.  When ordering a hook, please follow our height guidelines.  Hooks longer than 24 inches and up to 40 inches may be provided as two separate hooks, and longer than 40 inches up to 80 inches may be provided as three separate hooks.

5. Choose bobeche style (if applicable)

Bobeches are the "drip pans" beneath the candles on each arm.  Generally, there are three different bobeche options: Plain, Crinkle, and Pie Crust - plain bobeches are hand spun in the artisan's workshop.  Bobeches are finished in the same metal finish as the rest of the fixture.

6. Choose metal finish

Your metal finish will be applied to arms, bobeches, ceiling plates, and, if you have selected a wrought iron chandelier, the rest of the body.  Available finishes can be found in the "Color and Finishes" tab.

7. Choose wood finish (if applicable)

Wood spun chandeliers are available in two finish types, traditional and primitive.  For a simpler and more clean lined look, choose a traditional finish that uses 1 or 2 colors.  Primitive finishes use two to three colors and are hand rubbed and crackled for an aged effect.

On the order form, you will notice three drop down lists for color selection.  1st Color (Primary) is the color that covers most or all of the wood body.  2nd Color (Trim) is the color that is on the chandelier's accent bands.  It also appears in rubbed undertones on the body.  If a trim color is not desired, select "No Trim Color". 3rd Color (Crackle) is the base color that shows through the crackle effect of the primitive finish.  If a crackle effect is not desired, select "No Crackle Color".  If only the 1st and 3rd colors are selected, a crackle effect will be applied to the chandelier without trim colors.

Please consider your color selection carefully.  If you are unsure of your color selection, please order a free color chart (with rebate) or a custom maple paint chip.

Further Customization

Just about any feature of your chandelier can be customized.  If you do not see an option that you are looking for, please call the shop and we will work with you to get the perfect light for your needs.  Non-standard metal finishes, number of arms, dimensional alterations, and full custom lighting designs are all possible.

Ordering custom colors is easy and the transaction can be completed on our site.  If you wish to order a custom color, please select "custom color" on the desired paint locations.  After receiving your order, we will contact you with the address to mail your desired paint chip.  Depending on the type of finish, the actual color of your chandelier will vary slightly from your provided paint chip.  This is caused by the hand rubbing and antiquing of the finished chandelier.
