Yesterday, a six year old little boy was in the shop with his mother and three year old sister. I asked him what he was hoping to get for Christmas. He described some toy for me that I had not heard of before and in all seriousness stated, "I hope I don't get coal!" When I asked him if he thought he had been bad and was going to get coal he said, "I know that sometimes Santa gives out coal and I hope I don't get it. But, if I... Read and Discuss

The Ross family recently transformed their dining room with one of our Timeless Lighting chandeliers. Their original chandelier was dated. The new C33 wrought iron chandelier brought their dining room into the right century! Up next? The family wants to replace the brass sconces on the wall over the fireplace.

The holiday season presents many opportunities for gift giving. It is an exciting yet stressful time, and if you are like me, finding meaningful tokens to give to my loved ones is often hard to do. Bradford Mercantile is filled with gift opportunities perfect for the lover of the primitive and colonial styles as well as many other gifts. Over the next few weeks I would like to offer some ideas for just about every budget available in my shop. Also, we would like to know about some of your gift... Read and Discuss

I would like to have a men's night or day event in December. Ladies... when do you think the special men in your life would be most interested in coming? If it is at night, I'll get some beer. If it is in the morning we will have coffee and donuts. And, before the event, we will make sure we have your wish list on file. Hopefully my husband will come and be the "man" liaison. Please comment and let me know what you think! Read and Discuss

I just finished going through hundreds of guesses for the candy corn contest and we have a winner. Carol P. of Warren came within 4 of the correct number, which was 314. Carol wins the pumpkin head jar all the candy corns were in, and a new bag of candy corn to go in it. I must admit it was getting a little boring looking at all those slips until I opened one from Linda A. of Westport, Ma. Instead of a guess she wrote "Hi Terry". It gave me the... Read and Discuss

The shipments continue to arrive, the paper work is piling up. and it is only 17 days now until the Holiday Open House. As I sit here surrounded by Halloween I am trying to arrange in my mind the placement of Christmas trees and other holiday goodies. Speaking of goodies, I think I am surrounded by trees because some little cookie tarts that arrived today make me think I am back in Georgia in 1967 when my family first moved there from Chicago. I remember getting out of the car and... Read and Discuss

It is a busy time here at Bradford Mercantile. The shipments for Christmas continue to arrive and I went to a cash and carry on Oct. 4th as well. Linda and I are surrounded by boxes and bags of goodies as we try to get all the items processed. The scary part is the Holiday Open House is a month away...It will get done, it will get done...Caffeine, caffeine, it will get done. I should have the Coca-Cola company just deliver my soda to the shop! Got to run for now.... Read and Discuss

Eric recently moved to Massachusetts to pursue a degree in Interior Design - he used to work in event planning. He can’t resist decorating his New England mantle in a style that evokes his colonial New Orleans heritage. Eric’s mantle is filled with color and shimmer. This kind of full and bountiful decor is not likely to be found in the most primitive of homes, but it sure fits well into the historic home he now lives in in Brookline. Decorated for Halloween, the same mantle that was so formally decorated... Read and Discuss

Linda’s eclectic display and bright paint colors in her bathroom prove that Lilly the frog doesn’t just have to live in a primitive room. Linda’s choice of wall color accent’s Lilly’s rosy cheeks, and the vintage victorian lamp mixes up the styles to create a refreshing blend of old, new, and vintage. Thanks Linda for sharing with us Lilly’s new home! Read and Discuss
