  • Winter Music Series - “Musical Theatre”

    Location: Blithewold Mansion, Garden, & Arboretum

    Join Blithewold for Elegance and Opulence, Blithewold's first Winter Music Series, to be held the last Friday of the month from January through March, 2010. Enjoy an evening of music with Opera Providence, accompanied by a wine tasting by Greenvale Vineyards and desserts.

    This evening performance includes a special exhibit showcasing Bessie McKee and Marjorie Lyon's love of music. They saved several hundred performance programs from opera and symphony concerts in Boston and Europe. These will be on display, along with a collection of sheet music used in the early 1900s for musical soirees at Blithewold.

    Price for one performance: $35 Member, $40 Non-member, $60 Member Couple, $70 Non-member couple

  • Guided Arboretum Tour - Early Spring Specimens

    Sunday, March 28, 2010 - 1:30pm to 2:30pm

    Location: Blithewold Mansion, Garden, & Arboretum

    Join Assistant Grounds Manager and Certified Horticulturist Dan Christina for a "Walk in the Woods" as he reveals and discusses some of Blithewold's hidden horticultural treasures.

    Each month, topics such as texture, color, flowers, and their effects in the home landscape will be discussed. Don't miss out on this opportunity to enjoy guided exploration through Blithewold's magnificent 33 acre arboretum. Tour topics are subject to change due to seasonal constraints. Please dress for the weather, as this program will be held rain or shine.

    Price: $5 Member, $7 Non-member.

  • Daffodil Days - Begins

    Saturday, April 10, 2010 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

    Location: Blithewold Mansion, Garden, & Arboretum

    This spring, Blithewold's gardens once again come to life as fifty thousand daffodils, early blooming bulbs, trees and shrubs are coaxed from winter slumber to enchant guests with their quiet beauty and subtle scents during the annual Daffodil Days celebration held from April 10 - May 2nd, 2010.

    Along with the wonderful display in the gardens, Daffodil Days offers special exhibits and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

    The fashion of the women of Blithewold will come alive in the special exhibit Fashion in Bloom. Period dresses, hats, and accessories will adorn the upper-level rooms and the exhibit space outside of Marjorie's bedroom.

    Fashion in Bloom will also celebrate fashion through works in paper and fabric in a juried exhibit April 25 - May 23, 2010.

    In addition, afternoon tea will once again be served in the Dining Room of the Mansion. Delicious scones, savories, and scrumptious sweets that tantalize the palate will be featured.

    Tea is offered Wednesday, Thursday & Friday at either a 1:30 pm or 3:00 pm seating. The cost of tea is $10 per person, plus regular admission.

    Admission to Daffodil Days: $10 for Adults, $8 for Seniors/Students, $2 for Children ages 6 - 17. Admission is free to Blithewold Members, and children aged 5 and under.

  • Military, Civic & Firemen’s Parade

    Sunday, July 4, 2010 - 10:30am to 2:30pm

    Location: Hope Street and High Street, Bristol, RI

    Bristol Rhode Island puts on the best 4th of July parade around.

    The 225th Annual Military, Civic & Firemen's Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will step-off at the corner of Chestnut Street and Hope Street (Rt. 114) and ends on High Street, between State Street and Bradford Street.
